The Wessington area is home to a church whose congregation is also quite actively involved in the community. Wessington also has a modern Library complete with internet access.
Wessington is a friendly community where everybody knows and watches out for their neighbors. There's always something fun going on to bring people together, like the Parade of Lights in December, Pancake Breakfasts at the Legion Hall, sporting events, the Annual Pheasant Day–complete with pheasant races and a banquet on the opening weekend of pheasant season, Community Thanksgiving Potluck at the auditorium, the Summer Fun Day, plus many more!
Wessington is a progressive city that has a surprising amount of retail and service businesses, in addition to farming, ranching, and other agriculture related industry, and heartily welcomes new businesses. The Wessington Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), in conjunction with other groups in town, work diligently to keep Wessington a vital and thriving community.
