Tulare: “Little City with a Big Heart”
The town of Tulare is located on Highway 281 approximately 36 miles northwest of Huron and 9 miles south of Redfield. The town of Tulare grew from a small village to a flourishing trade center that became incorporated as a town in 1916. Our town has been labeled as the “Little City with a Big Heart” which describes our hometown atmosphere. Our town reflects a caring spirit where friends, community, school, church, and agriculture come together to provide a wonderful place to shop, raise a family and do business.
Heartland State Bank has been a part of the Tulare community for over 25 years. In 2004 our 25th year anniversary was held. With no previous bank to service this area, Arnold Domke saw an opportunity to build a customer base and serve the people residing within the area. The original branch was located in the current Wheat Gowers office and moved down the street in July of 1995. HSB has carried out the philosophy that you always have to be community minded and fair to the people you serve. We are proud to employ 5 full time employees and one part time. Loyalty to community and school are the main focus of our dedication to providing up to date banking services.
Tulare is the home of many retail and service businesses in addition to ranching, agriculture and some of the world’s best pheasant and deer hunting. Many civic groups strive to keep Tulare a growing thriving community along a major highway and railroad.
